I’m attorney Andrew Long Rising Phoenix Law Group with this week’s tip as to what to do if pulled over or contacted by police during a traffic stop. If you are suspected of a DUI during a traffic stop, police will ask you to perform what’s called FSTs, field Sobriety Tests. I’m sure a lot of you are familiar with these tests from watching TV.

For example, whenever they have. Put their finger to their nose, walk a straight line called the walk and turn. You are not obligated to consent to doing these tests. In fact, I would like to call those games many people who are sober and not under the influence of anything, cannot pass them.

There are several ways that a skilled defense attorney can attack the reliability and the credibility of these. But for today’s purposes as to tips. When you are pulled over, you are not obligated to comply in doing those tests again. They will ask you to do those tests. They should not demand that you do those tests as you are not under any obligation to perform them.
